Kate practices from a trauma informed approach and is trained in various therapeutic interventions such as cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Developing a collaborative framework to nurture the strengths of her clients is critical to her practice. Working from this client-centered and emotion-focused framework is an integral part of her therapeutic approach. She is committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental environment where therapeutic relationships can flourish.

Kate’s areas of practice include working with clients experiencing anxiety and depression disorders, emotion regulation/distress tolerance skills, addiction, anger management, trauma, sexual abuse, court mandated youth and post 9/11 veterans. She has experience in providing both individual and group therapy for adolescents and adults. Moreover, she has vast training and experience in working with personality disorders, specifically borderline personality disorder

Kate holds a Clinical Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, USA with a focus on children and adolescents. Kate completed her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology (major) with a Psychology (minor) as well as a post baccalaureate diploma in human development and counselling from Simon Fraser University.
